KARACHI–Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has remarked federation, Sindh government and all stakeholders should find a solution to reservations of the paramilitary rangers in Karachi.
A five-member bench of Supreme Court presided over by the chief justice took up for hearing in law and order suomotu case on Tuesday in Karachi registry.Sindh Police chief Ghulam Haider Jamali filed a report in the Supreme Court on target killing.
It was stated in the report that 159 cases of target killings took place in Karachi in 2015. Cases of 83 incidents were registered and 53 accused were arrested. 15 accused were killed in police encounters and 25 cases are under investigation of police.The court rejected the Sindh IG report declaring it unsatisfactory.
Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked that, “one who calls him IG does not know what is going on under his subordination. Your report is pieces of paper for us. We have no interest therein. There is nothing therein except statistics. It looks as if you want to tell nothing. It seems from your talks you have no control over Karachi police.”
The police chief said that the court remarks are inappropriate. Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked these remarks are appropriate in terms of your performance. If you have any objection then you can give application. Your officers lie. Your officer who prepares report commits forgery.
The chief justice remarked if transfers are made hurriedly then how the officers will perform their function. When a police officer is transferred for seven times in a year it means he has not been allowed to work. How can good governance come in this situation?The court reprimanded the police chief for not giving appropriate reply.
